Magazine Plan

This is my original plan for the magazine; most areas will be stuck to when designing the magazine spread. However the size of images or text will vary throughout the process to achieve the perfect composition that I feel will be most attractive and appealing to the audience.  The masthead will remain at the top of the page in each issue to make it recognizable to the audience and help create a memorable image to the magazine. It will be red and bold in each issue to keep a similar house style and give the magazine a professional and reliable approach.

The barcode will be positioned in the right hand corner; this is because after having researched barcode positioning we decided that it is the recognisable position is there and people will be able to find it easily. Also in the retail world it would be easy to find, giving the approach that our magazine will be reliable and professional. The date and price of the magazine will also be positioned with the barcode this is because we fell it isn’t important enough to be sat under the master head of the magazine but not irrelevant enough not to be on the front cover, it well be easy to find if all the retail information about the magazine is together. The cover lines of this issue will positioned under the cover story so the audience can see what else is included within the interest without looking elsewhere and losing interest.

The articles included on the cover line will appeal to both genders as they will include factual information about music or the main featured artist. They will be gossip based so they appeal to the female audience too. The cover lines will be positioned to the left side of the page; this will remain the same within each issue to keep a consistent house style. Also the audience are likely to read Spine to Trim.

In each issue of Tune the skyline will be positioned in the same place and produced using the same colours and font. This will result in the audience being able to recognise the magazine image. It will be an incentive for the audience when they buy the magazine. In each issue the incentive will be different to offer variation to the audience and prevent them getting bored and finding it tedious.

The main cover will differ in each issue, like every magazine issue does. The positioning of the text and font might differ depending on the layout of the image. It would help to do this as each issue would then be unique and interesting. The main story targets both genders.

When we use the title of our magazine within the magazine spread it will be in a consistent font and colour to make it recognisable to the audience and it will help create an image to our readers.

Mood Board

This is my moodboard for a specific genre of pop. I chose 'Bubblegum Pop' because the colours are loud and can be striking to a possible audience. Chosing 'Bubblegum Pop' to research enabled me to see what artists are avaiable under the genre and gave me ideas on how to design my future magaznie. Fonts are also important within genre, with 'Bubblegum pop' the fonts tend to be sans serif and curvey, this is to match the appearance and representation of the quirky and fun style.

Preliminary Magazine Cover

This is my preliminary front cover for my student magazine. Whilst creating this I took into consideration the target audience of sixth form students and designed the layout and composition of the image to suit the audeince. The colours and fonts that I have used are exctiting and intreguing to the audience, this draws their attention in rather than losing their interest.

Plan for my Preliminary Magazine Cover

This is the original design i did for the school magazine. I kept to the design for the majority of the way. However I didn't add another image of a different artist as I felt it would've made it too busy and unappealing to an audience.
